Thoughts: Musing on Grief and Loss

I was thinking about grief and loss.

I learned that the loss of a friendship can feel like a death.  In many ways, it is a death.  It is the death of familiarity and intimacy.  What was a known then is now an unknown.  The person I thought I could trust is now estranged.

At the time it felt like a crushing loss and a betrayal.  Now, mere days later, it feels like a small hill I had to climb.  It really was not that big of a deal.  Prayer, meditation, reading the Word puts things in perspective.

I have to say, I am incredibly blessed in spite of all my trials.  They are blessings in disguise.  I know better and better what is important.  It’s true.  God is good.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

-Romans 8:28 (NIV)

I should study.  But first, I love Corinne Bailey Rae, and I’m pleased that she has worked through the loss of her husband and is releasing a new album (The Sea) in Februaru 2010.  :)
